Why SPRAVATO®

If you’ve taken two or more oral antidepressants and still experience symptoms of depression, you might have treatment-resistant depression (TRD). If you’re an adult with TRD, you may benefit from adding SPRAVATO® to your existing oral antidepressant

We are a SPRAVATO® certified treatment center and administer treatment within our offices.  You will be monitored by our psychiatrist and other medical professionals over the course of 120 minutes.  Schedule a consultation with our staff to learn more.

Getting Started

What to Expect

After a diagostic visit, qualified patients can expect start with an office visit to review the expectations for treatment.

Acute Treatments

Patients can expect to receive 8-12 treatments for the initial series. These treatments will be scheduled twice per week for 4 to 6 weeks.

Maintenace Treatments

After completion of the first treatment series, patients will meet with our psychiatrist to determine whether treatment was effective and determine an ongoing plan

What happens before treatment?

We understand that finding the right treatment for you can be a difficult process. Once SPRAVATO® is identified as a treatment, our clinicians and staff proactively coordinate care with your providers to gather the medical history necessary to start the insurance prior authorization process. Upon insurance approval, we schedule an office visit to explain the treatment process.

What happens on the day of treatment?

On the days you receive SPRAVATO® treatment, you will need to plan for a caregiver or family member to drive you home. One of our healthcare providers will provide direct medical supervision as you self administer SPRAVATO® in our comfortable treatment center. You will relax while we monitor you for at least two hours for serious side effects. Our clinicians will also watch for any changes in respiratory status (including pulse oximetry) and blood pressure.

What happens after treatment?

Please keep in mind that you should not drive or operate machinery until the next day after a night of restful sleep. You
will need to return to a treatment center for your next treatment. You will not be able to self-administer SPRAVATO® at
home.

What is SPRAVATO® (esketamine) CIII nasal spray?

SPRAVATO® is a prescription medicine, used along with an antidepressant taken by mouth to treat depressive symptoms in adults with major depressive disorder (MDD) with suicidal thoughts or actions.

SPRAVATO® is not for use as a medicine to prevent or relieve pain (anesthetic). It is not known if SPRAVATO® is safe or
effective as an anesthetic medicine.

It is not known if SPRAVATO® is safe and effective for use in preventing suicide or in reducing suicidal thoughts or
actions. SPRAVATO® is not for use in place of hospitalization if your healthcare provider determines that hospitalization is
needed, even if improvement is experienced after the first dose of SPRAVATO®.

It is not known if SPRAVATO® is safe and effective in children.

Do I need a referral from my primary care physician?

No, you do not need a referral. However, you must be under care of a primary care physician while you’re receiving treatment

What is the minimum age for treatment?

SPRAVATO® treatment for depression is only approved for adults. We will be happy to discuss available treatment options for all age groups. 

Are there any specific medical conditions that would prevent me from receiving treatment?

If you have psychosis, high blood pressure, cardiac, and/or pulmonary issues it may be necessary for your primary care physician to provide medical clearance before beginning SPRAVATO® treatment.

Can I eat and/or drink prior to my SPRAVATO® Treatment?

Avoid solid foods and/or milk for 6 hours prior to your treatment. You may drink clear liquids (i.e. water, fruit juices without pulp, carbonated beverages, clear tea, and black coffee) up until 2 hours before treatment. Alcohol or the use of any narcotic drugs must be excluded. These substances are extremely dangerous in combination with SPRAVATO®.
